IoT location services
Where the forklifts and the pallets are, not just where the Wi-Fi is.
How many BLE beacons does a space need?

It depends on whether you need presence or position. Presence — "is this pallet in this zone" — needs beacons spaced at their detection radius. Real-time location needs every tag to hear at least three beacons at once, which typically triples the count.
Beacon transmit power and the environment preset both move the number: more power reaches further and needs fewer beacons but costs battery life, and a warehouse preset shortens the range that an office preset would have given you.
How many UWB anchors does a space need?
Anchors sit on a square lattice at 70% of the ranging radius, so every tag sees at least three with workable geometry. Tell the planner what the ranging conditions really are — clear line of sight, light obstructions, or dense racking — and the grid spacing and anchor count follow.
| Ranging conditions | Assumed range |
|---|---|
| Line of sight | 150 ft |
| Light obstructions | 80 ft |
| Dense / through walls | 40 ft |
Should I use BLE or UWB?
BLE for zones and presence on battery-powered tags; UWB when you need to find the thing itself to within centimetres and can run wired anchors.
Common questions
Do the beacon ranges use the same model as the Wi-Fi heatmap?
Yes. BLE ranges are computed with the same RF engine and environment preset as the coverage heatmap, not from a generic table.
